Our Story

With more than 15 years of sewing experience, Judith recently started knitting. It got serious pretty quickly and, one thing leading to another, she’s got introduced to different knitting community around Montreal. Meanwhile, Jean-Philippe was looking for a hands-on technical project. After a visit in a yarn store in Boston, he decided to build an electrical yarn winder for Judith. As it got some attention and positive comments from the local knitting community, both decided to found Romarin, a tool manufacturing company for yarn professionals and enthusiasts.

Romarin is committed to environmental and local economy values. Therefore, all our products are designed and assembled by hand in Montreal. We get our raw materials from local suppliers as much as possible. We make sure to select mechanical and electrical components that are compliant with the European RoHS and WEEE directives, insuring no toxic components will be released in the environment at the end of their service life. Finally, we are focused on manufacturing high-quality products in order to minimise material wastes.

Notre Histoire

Couturière invétérée, Judith s’est mise au crochet et au tricot au cours des dernières années. De fil en aiguille (pun intended), elle a découvert la communauté québécoise du tricot avec laquelle elle a tissé plusieurs liens. Jean-Philippe, qui se cherchait alors un projet de fin de semaine, a entrepris de lui fabriquer un bobineur électrique. Devant l’intérêt que portaient plusieurs envers cette nouvelle création, nous avons décidé de nous associer afin de créer Romarin, une compagnie offrant des outils et des accessoires haut-de-gammes pour le crochet et le tricot.

Romarin est particulièrement attaché aux valeurs environnementales et d’économie locale. Pour cette raison, nos produits sont conçus et assemblés à la main à Montréal. Nous portons une attention particulière à sélectionner des produits et des fournisseurs locaux. Nous sélectionnons des composantes électroniques et mécaniques conformes aux directives Européennes RoHS et WEEE, visant à assurer qu’aucun produit toxique ne sera libéré dans l’environment après la vie utile des appareils électriques. Enfin, nous désirons offrir des produits robustes et de qualité afin d’éviter le gaspillage de matériel.
