Romarin’s Hank Twister is an absolute beast. Its easy to setup, super reliable and built to last. We currently have 4 of these bad boys, and twist up ~350 skeins / day. Our team can twist up to 200 skeins / hour with this thing if we’re seriously hustling, though we’re usually between 100-150 skeins / hour / twister.
We’ve only had one break, and it was our fault because we didn’t tighten the clamps enough. It fell onto the ground and stopped working. JP was quick to help us troubleshoot the issue, and added replacement parts free of charge when we purchased our second twister. That way we could save on shipping costs.
Save yourself the time and trouble. Get a HankTwister (or three) and never look back. We definitely haven’t.

As an Indie Dyer, I finally decided to invest in a hank winder to save time on my winding days. I was recommended this winder by another dyer friend who lives in Amsterdam! I absolutely LOVE it and recommend it to anyone who is looking to buy one. I actually just told my BFF who owns a yarn shop in Michigan, who asked where I got mine! This is one of the most useful items I have bought for my business. Dying up 50+ skeins in a batch is hard work already. Using this hank twister to twist them up cuts down on the physical labor significantly. It is super easy to use, just set it to the number of rotations for each base, tap the pedal once and go. This device has worked flawlessly, and has saved me hours and hours of labor. Each twisted skein comes out looking identical and professional.

The Hank Twister is an exceptional machine that has speeded up twisting our yarn which saves time and strain on us as dyers. The machine has various functions for setting rotations (so works on a variety of yarn bases and sizes such as 20g mini skeins up to 100g chunky skeins). You can spin both clockwise and anti-clockwise and the foot pedal allows ease for starting and stopping the rotations. We are very pleased with the Hank Twister and we have called him Henry.

With my “old” one, you had to release the pedal at exactly the right moment, but with this one, you simply set the desired number of twists and, after one “tap” on the pedal, it automatically makes the desired number of rotations. I’ve been dyeing yarn for years, and I honestly wish I had bought the HankTwister sooner.
It is incredibly easy to use, and I love that I can adjust the number of twists on the fly depending on the yarn, skein size, and how I want the finished hank to look. That flexibility matters much more than I expected it to.
But the biggest thing for me is the time savings. I prep a lot of yarn, and twisting hanks by hand is one of those repetitive little jobs that doesn’t seem terrible until you realize how much time you’re spending doing it. The HankTwister has made that part of my process dramatically faster and more consistent.
And the finished skeins just look better. They’re neat, consistent, professional, and ready for display. Basically, it makes my yarn look like I know what I’m doing, which is always a bonus.
For the price, I’m seriously impressed. It’s simple, adjustable, easy to operate, and does exactly what I needed it to do. This has quickly become one of those pieces of equipment I wouldn’t want to be without.
If you’re an indie dyer twisting any significant number of skeins by hand, your wrists and your sanity will thank you.

I bought the hank twister because I have hypermobility, and twisting large numbers of skeins as an indie dyer was starting to cause me some pain. The hank twister is great, the settings allow for consistent and professional results, and it takes the strain off my joints, leaving me able to process a higher volume of skeins in one session.
