I purchased The Caker after watching a YouTube video by Clo Knits. Although it is a much pricier wool winder compared to the hand held or plastic electric winders, it is worth every penny. You can feel the quality right out of the box. Every cake I have wound has been perfect, even winding skeins of mohair. I have chronic pain in my neck and shoulders and having to wind a skein by hand would not allow me to knit for a day or two after. With The Caker, I can wind my skein in less than 2 minutes and get straight to knitting. Best of all, it is manufactured and shipped within Canada!

I’ve had my Caker for about 2 years and absolutely love it. I love the built in feature that stops the winder if it gets tangled on the swift. The only thing that would make it better is a lager cone add on. I’m a handspinner and tend to have larger hanks to cake.

I bought The Caker for my wife about 8 months ago, and she loves it. She’s an avid crocheter with many years of experience using every caker/winder under the sun. This is by far her favorite, and it gets used several times per week. My only complaint is a problem that plagues every winder she has used: sometimes the yarn gets tangled in the gears and it’s a bear to untangle. Like I said, it’s a common problem and I’m not sure what the solution would be. Other than that, The Caker is high-quality and made to last a lifetime. It’s a great product!

I absolutely love my Caker. It’s a serious workhorse of a winder and has saved me from the randomness of my LYS cakes (often a mess) and serious strain on my shoulder. The tension is great, the cakes are neat, and I love the variable speed. I had a user error initially and contacted Romarin by email and we resolved it the same day. I’ve recommended it to several friends and the LYS. I think a heavier-duty version (bigger motor/heat sink) would be very popular for shops that wind for their customers.

The Romarin Caker was a game changer for my practice 🙂 I spent a lot of time reviewing what my options were for yarn winding and was so happy to find the Caker as it checked off many of the things I was hoping for. It’s made with high quality metal parts with a variable speed motor, it securely attached to my bench, the tension arm is stable, and it has replaceable parts which in turn allows me to hopefully repair it in the future or replace parts as needed. Perhaps most important of all is that it works wonderfully in winding yarn- I also like that it is not too loud.
My only limitation with the Caker is size (can only wind as much of a yarn before your cake will bump into the tension arm. But this is a pretty large sized cake.). 🙂 love it- I have had mine for over a year and use it /a lot/ with no issues.

I bought my caker many years ago and it has been amazing. About a year in I did break the center piece, but I reached out through customer service and was immediately helped with replacement parts and easy instructions on how to fix my caker. I love when items can be fixed to extend their life. My caker has worked wonderfully for many years since the incident and I am very happy with it and the customer service. 10/10 yarn winder!

Sono davvero felice di essermi regalata un “caker”! Realizza delle matasse bellissime e non richiede alcuno sforzo. L’ho appena comprato e so già che mi cambierà la vita. Adoro il fatto che si possa scegliere la velocità: così, se si ha un filato appiccicoso come il mohair, basta abbassare leggermente la velocità per ottenere una tensione davvero ottimale nel gomitolo. E il design è davvero carinissimo!
